Oct 5, 2025 - Last night, I attended the Cedarhurst Photography Competition Exhibition in Mount Vernon, IL. 304 photographs were entered in this year’s competition from 78 different artists, representing 37 southern Illinois communities! 39 works were accepted representing 32 photographers, of which 3 of my images were on display. Here’s me with one of my photographs titled Alley Way car. And shout out to my good friend and fellow photographer @Paul Kraay who won 2nd place overall for his image Splash Collision.
Oct 3, 2025 - For the month of October, I’m showcasing images of windows and doors from my hometown of Belleville, Illinois. The alignment, symmetry, and character of windows and doors make them great subjects for architectural photography. Here’s one from downtown Belleville. This is a great reminder that you don’t need to travel far to find local gems for your photography—they’re right where you live. Architexturefotos - building stories one frame at a time!
Sept 30, 2025 - Nearly every city is populated with traditional corporate office buildings. Certainly, St Louis has thousands of them. Here is a view from the 3rd floor of Corporate College of St Louis Community College. It features natural overhead lighting and a flowing fountain that runs through the middle of the downward steps. It also has lots of glass to bounce the light. Architexturefotos - building stories one frame at a time!
Sept 21, 2025 - This past week, a group of us from Southern Illinois went on a Phototrek to the city of St Louis. We had a great day out shooting, laughing, and knoodling. One of our stops along the trek was Union Station. This image was taken at the entrance of ‘The Wheel’, a 200-foot high observation wheel with 42 fully enclosed gondolas with passengers taking three to four rotations over a 15 minute period. I love the wide view of the wheel with the ticketing sign in the foreground.
Sept 19, 2025 - As I walk through the halls of the college where I work, I’m often struck by the symmetrical patterns created by the seating in our large lecture halls. A few of these halls have unique lighting and exposed brick walls that give a nod to the 1960s and 70s, while still maintaining their own distinct character. Even the wood grain in the seats adds to the detail. Here is a wide-angle shot of one of them. Architexturefotos - building stories one frame at a time!
