East Meets West
Jun 6, 2025 - I’ve discussed the value and importance of photo walks here on the blog before. But as I think about it, most of my photography stems from doing a photowalk. I simply grab the camera, head out the door, and roam the neighborhood (or drive to an area of interest). It’s amazing what you discover and see when you slow down and explore your surroundings; things we frequently miss when we drive from home to work to the store to home again (rinse and repeat, rinse and repeat). Recently, I ventured down St Charles St here in my hometown of Belleville and headed toward downtown. Here’s an image that caught my attention due to the contrasty colors that intersected at the drainpipe. It’s a sort of ‘east meets west’ photo where there is a collision in the middle of the frame. Amazing what you find right in your hometown.
